Did you know that:
The chance of a diagnosis of prostate cancer for a man in his 40s is 1 in 1000.
Each year in Australia, close to 3,300 men die of prostate cancer - equal to the number of women who die from breast cancer annually. Around 20,000 new cases are diagnosed in Australia every year.
LGBTI people experience more negative mental health outcomes than the population as a whole.
One in five Australians experiences a mental illness within a 12-month period.
In 2007 in Australia, nearly half of males aged 16–85 years had experienced a mental health disorder in their lifetime. This includes males with anxiety, affective and/or substance use disorders.
Men are three times more likely than women to commit suicide: in Australia in 2009, 14.9 in every 100,000 men died by suicide compared to 4.5 in every 100,000 women.
One of our values is that we should be the change we seek. And we at Atlassian want to change some of these statistics.

Why Grovember?
Grovember is in no way a criticism of the Movember initiative. We've been a big supporter of Movember in the past (& continue to be outside Australia this year). We feel unable to support Movember's 2011 effort in Australia for reasons discussed in more detail here (opens in new window).
We are happily supporting Movember in other countries where money will go to men’s health charities in those regions.  Grovember is a 2011 initiative for Australia only & we hope to support Movember 2012.
